Hate incident on the grounds of religious belief

Incident
Causing national, racial or religious hate, discord or intolerance
Incident due to religious affiliation or religious belief

What happened: In June, the Helsinki Committee was addressed by Goran Sadikario, the director of the Museum of the Holocaust of the Jews in Macedonia, who informed us that the Ballisti fan group from Tetovo wrote graffiti with Nazi symbols in several places in the city. In addition, he shared with us the reactions of the Jewish community to the previous events at the carnival in Strumica, where there was a mask with the face of Hitler, as well as graffiti with a swastika on the fence of the Jewish community.

Brief description of the incident with bias indicators In this incident, the bias motive is the religious belief, with the bias indicators being:

  1. Religious belief – the graffiti were directed at members of the Jewish community
  2. Location – one of the graffiti is drawn on the fence of the Jewish Community
  3. Impact on the victims and the community: These types of incidents call into question the general safety in the country and the cohabitation among the different religious groups in society.
