What happened: On the “Makedonija” Street in Skopje, while the 24-year old T.U. from Ferizaj/
Uroševac, was strolling down the street with his friends, R.U., F.U., A.M. and R.U., they were physically
attacked by a larger group of young people, after which the attackers fled in an unknown direction.
According to the information given in the media, the police informed that the injured person was
sent to a hospital in Skopje where he was given medical aid, while the persons S.N. (19), A.Z. (19), NM
(19) and two juveniles aged 15 and 16, all of them from Skopje, were arrested. After being interviewed,
the juveniles were released, while the others were detained for further proceedings. The media also
reported that measures were being taken to fully solve the case.

Status of the case: Criminal charges have been pressed against five people for the crime of
“Participation in a Crowd which Commits a Crime”, in accordance with Article 385 from CC.
Response of the local authorities: The MoI’s response to the MHC request for public information
regarding this incident states that after taking adequate measures and activities SIA Skopje
submitted criminal charges to the Basic Public Prosecution Skopje (CU no. 2351/17) against five
people on grounds of reasonable suspicion that they have committed the crime of “Participating in
a Crowd which Commits a Crime” in accordance with Article 385 from CC.

of the two major ethnic communities in the country.
