What happened: A sixteen y/o pupil physically attacked his peer without any motive or reason,
heating him in the head.
Date, time and location of the incident: March 13th, High School Zef Ljush Marku in Skopje.

Perpetrator(s): One minor male high school student with unknown ethnic origin.
Brief description of incident with bias indicators: The bias motive in this incident is ethnic origin,
citizenship or language, and the bias indicators in this incident are:
1. Presumed difference between perpetrator and victim on ethnicity – Due to the mixed ethnic composition of
the school the pupils attend, the ethnicity of the victims may differ from the one of the perpetrators.
2. Nature of violence – The incident was carried out in public.
3. Lack of other motives.
Status of the case: Misdemeanour charges pressed.
Response of local authorities: The Ministry of Interior stated via Answer upon a Request for information
of public character sent by the Committee that it has filed misdemeanour charges against the
perpetrator for the act of Physical attack, according to the Law on Misdemeanours against Public
Peace and Order. However, there has been no answer as to the fact that indicates to the possible
motive of the crime.
Impact on the victim(s) and the community: This type of incidents brings into question the general
political situation in the country and the cohabitation between the Macedonians, on one side and
the Albanians as the two largest ethnic communities in the country, and additionally influences the
building of a multiethnic tolerant surrounding young people can grow up in.
