What happened: In Skopje, on the quay of the Vardar River, two persons were physically attacked by
a larger group of persons wearing hoodies, who left the scene after the attack. The injured persons
were transferred to the City General Hospital “St. Naum Ohridski” with an ambulance, where they
were found to have sustained bodily injuries and after medical assistance was provided they were
sent home to recover.

motivated incidents have occurred on several occasions.
2. Pattern of previous incidents – the same day, several hours earlier, one person was stabbed with a
knife on the quay of the river Vardar.

Status of the case: The incident was qualified as disruption of the public order by physical attack.
Response of the local authorities: The MoI’s response to the MHC request for public information
regarding this incident, confirms the above-mentioned incident, stating that the two victims, aged 18
and 19, had visible injuries and cuts on their heads. After conducting the interview with the victims,
they were informed that near MKC they were physically attacked by 10-12 unknown persons, aged
around 20 to 23, and dressed in hoodies. After consulting with the Public Prosecutor the event was
qualified as a disruption of the public order with a physical attack, criminal act provided in Article 12
of the Law on Misdemeanours against the Public Order.
Impact on the victim(s) and the community: This incident calls into question the ethnic coexistence
between the two largest communities in the country.
