What happened: On the Day of the Albanian alphabet, late in the evening, unknown perpetrators
\nvandalized the Museum of Albanian Alphabet in Bitola. The perpetrators smashed the glass front
\ndoor of the museum with paving bricks, and hung a poster featuring a lion with a sword who cuts
\nheads of the two-headed eagle with a sword and wrote \u201cDeath to Shiptars\u201d. Over the plaque, they
\nplaced another poster that reads \u201cStop Shiptar-ization\u201d and crossed out the Albanian national
\nsymbol \u2212 a double-headed eagle.<\/p>\n
Date, time and location of the incident: 21 November, around 23:00, Museum of Albanian Alphabet,
\nBitola.

\nBrief description of the incident with bias indicators: In this incident, the bias motive is ethnicity and
\nthe bias indicators are:
\n1. Target location \u2013 the target museum is the Museum of Albanian Alphabet in Bitola;
\n2. Time \u2013 the incident happened on the night of 22 November, the Day of Albanian Alphabet;
\n3. Pattern of previous incidents \u2013 this is a second attack on the Museum of Albanian Alphabet within a
\nperiod of around ten days.<\/p>\n
Status of the case: Under investigation.
\nResponse of Local Authorities: In MOI\u2019s response to the Committee\u2019s request for public information
\nregarding this incident, it is stated that after the reporting of the event and under the Public
\nProsecutor\u2019s authorization in Bitola, an investigation was conducted by SIA Bitola. At SIA Bitola, the
\nincident was registered as a criminal act of \u201cDamage to objects of others\u201d which in accordance with
\nArticle 243, paragraph 1 of CC is prosecuted as a private lawsuit. Regarding the reported incident,
\nthe records of the video surveillance were examined and two males were observed at the time of
\nthe incident. Additionally, the response also stated that measures were being taken for resolving the
\nincident and identifying the perpetrators.
